Vallejo | California | a home session just to capture their love

Taylor and Nic recently moved from Michigan into their sweet midcentury modern home — a dreamy place filled with warmth, character, and a sense of awe. My partner knew Nic back from childhood, and although we had all been meaning to hang out prior, it wasn’t until I arrived at their home to shoot, that I met them for the first time — both kind, personable, and instantly felt like friends. As much as I love shooting outside — in gardens, on trails, in the wild — I love shooting in people’s homes the most. Its where they find comfort, where they can just go about their normal lives as I capture the sweet in-between moments. We followed their usual routines — drinking tea, playing with their dog Cooper, lounging on their deck in pajamas, walking down to the bay — capturing their lives in all forms. I learned two things that day: I need a disco ball. And that I needed to watch all of Robert Pattinson films since Twilight (because Nic is obsessed with him and I need to be open-minded).
